Transmutable Explorations is a collaborative effort with artists and makers working on many varied projects. Projects are mainly focused in areas where chemistry, light, sound, software and art intersect, heavily influenced by our interest in social networking and desire to use pervasive computing in a way that improves our lives in a sustainable manner.
The members making up Transmutable Explorations share the common goal of providing their services without compromising their beliefs in artistic license or quality of finished product. Many of the interest areas for Transmutable Explorations are ever changing and exploratory by nature (hence the name) and projects form solely on the basis of a client need that sparks the interest of our members. Other service areas are quite immutable (usually arising out of our exploratory research) and we have expert staff dedicated to providing these services on an ongoing basis.

Soap

jason — Mon, 02/01/2010 - 20:06

Some people are aware that we make all of the soap sold by Threddies, but few are aware of what makes our technique special. We've developed a "super-fatted" recipe which allows us to develop a much more skin friendly product (although we can't say this due to FDA restrictions) which cures in a much faster time period. Every batch of soap requested through Threddies is custom made by us after the order is placed.

inMyCellar

jason — Thu, 12/31/2009 - 13:25

inMyCellar (our latest public Android application) allows you to keep track of the details of the beers/wines/other things that you keep in your cellar. It's ideal for homebrewers, casual collectors and connoisseurs alike. You can use it as a reference the next time you're shopping or preparing a trade. Lots of interesting things coming! Join us and help drive future development.

fun with milk...

jason — Mon, 09/07/2009 - 09:31

I embarked on my first foray into making mozzarella a few days ago. It was ridiculously easy and, just like my experiences with homemade yogurt, I'll be doing it much more frequently. I only have two problems now: 1) how to obtain an effective rennet without resorting to buying it or keeping veal calves and 2) What to do with all this whey... Drop me a line if you have ideas for either of my problems.

Android Developer Challenge 2

jason — Sun, 08/30/2009 - 17:48

The ADC2 comes to a close tomorrow night. So far we've entered two applications (BJCPDroid and POVWriter) and may be able to finish up one more before the deadline. Our plan is to release all of our Android applications into the marketplace after some more investigation into alternative markets and pay vs. ad supported applications. The statistics for pay Android applications don't look very promising to us so we're leaning toward releasing most of our apps with ads. Unfortunately, AdSense for Android Beta has some additional requirements that make it rather unappealing at this time.

I posted an entry in the 'get in the garden' instructables contest. The first prize is a NatureMill computerized composter. I've been wanting to play around with one of these for awhile. Check it out, and vote for my entry next week here
